Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that he can help turn team mate Jermain Defoe into the Premier League’s top goalscorer if he is given a chance to play with him, as reported by the Daily Mirror.
Adebayor signed permanently for Spurs this summer after a successful loan spell last season but has been out with a hamstring injury in recent weeks. However, the striker is now fully fit and is keen to break into Andre Villas-Boas’ team, but it seems the new boss prefers just one striker in his side that has had an indifferent start to the season.
Defoe on the other hand has had a bright start to the campaign, netting four league goals already and it seems Adebayor will struggle to get in front of the England striker at present.
“I have a huge respect for Jermain Defoe,” Adebayor told the Daily Mirror.
“I’ve told him that if I can come back and make him the top goalscorer in the League, then I am happy.”
