He’s tall, he’s proven he can find the net, and he’s a little bit crazy. Vedat Muriqi, ladies and gentlemen.
According to Turkish media outlet Sabah, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, whom they scouted during Kosovo’s 2-1 win against the Czech Republic at the weekend.
What’s the word, then?
Well, Sabah report that Spurs were among a number of European clubs to watch the 6 foot 4 striker in action for his country, following an impressive start to the campaign with club side Fenerbahce.
He has hit the ground running with two goals in three appearances following a summer move from Caykur Rizespor, for whom he netted 25 times in 52 outings according to Transfermarkt.
That form clearly hasn’t gone unnoticed by Tottenham, who appear to be in need of some senior competition for Harry Kane given both Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente departed during the previous transfer window.

The type of striker Tottenham need
The north London outfit ultimately failed with their Janssen and Llorente experiments, but Muriqi is a little bit different.
Firstly, he is neither young – like Janssen was when he arrived at White Hart Lane – or in the latter stages of his career like Llorente was, coming in at 25 years of age.
He has proven that he knows how to find the goal in Turkey and for his country – he has two goals in four Euro 2020 qualifiers prior to the clash against England on Tuesday – but perhaps most interestingly enough is his personality.
Muriqi appears to be confident and an out there sort of player, and according to Sabah he was compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic by the Kosovan media following his display for his country at the weekend – high praise indeed.
Tottenham are known for having a tight-knit squad with no controversial personalities under Mauricio Pochettino, but perhaps it is time for them to take a risk on a player who will feel that he can really push Kane for his spot.
A Premier League move certainly did no harm for the self-confident Ibrahimovic himself.
