da doce: Liverpool have beaten Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 in their final pre-season friendly, with under-fire Andy Carroll scoring.
Goals from the increasingly-impressive Rahem Sterling, Lucas Leiva and the England international sealed the victory, with Sidney Sam scoring for the German visitors.
Carroll has been the subject of transfer speculation this summer as Brendan Rodgers seemingly has replaced the lofty forward with Fabio Borini, with moves to AC Milan, West Ham and former club Newcastle all being speculated.
Despite this, Rodgers has hailed the striker for the way he took his goal and feels that his team are improving day-by-day.
“It was nice to see him score and it was a terrific goal as well. The big guy has had stick that he can’t play this way but he let it go through his legs and he tucked it away very well,” the Northern Irish coach told The Daily Mail.
“There is still a lot of work ahead but I’m seeing improvement every single day in terms of our short passing game. To play with that control against a very good side was excellent.”
