However, there’s always the possibility they could lose one or two key stars and so it’s prudent they continue to track targets they feel can come in and shine.
A Bola report that one player they’re keeping tabs on is William Carvalho. The outlet reckons that’s because they could lose Eric Dier to Manchester United this summer.
If they do bid for the midfielder, Sporting would not accept less than £26.25m, according to the report.
Who is he?
Carvalho may not be a household name to British football fans but he’s regular fixture for both Sporting Lisbon and the Portugal national team.
Making over 150 appearances for Sporting since 2013, he’s a player with fantastic experience of top-flight football and has gained plaudits for his defensive capabilities in the middle of the park, also possessing the ability to bring the ball into the final third with the ball at his feet. He was most recently seen in action for Portugal finishing third in the Confederations Cup.
His hybrid style could prove ideal for Spurs, especially if they do end up losing the likes of Eric Dier this summer.
