da jogodeouro: Liverpool are keen to sign Twente striker Luuk de Jong, but have been warned that up to 15 other clubs are interested in signing the attacker.
De Jong has hit the back of the net 30 times in 46 appearances for the Enschede side this term, who are managed by Steve McClaren, and has gained rave reviews for his form in the Eredivisie.
The 21-year-old hitman has made seven appearances for the Netherlands senior side, and looks highly likely to leave Twente for a bigger club this summer.
The Anfield outfit have been credited with an interest, but will face stiff competition to capture De Jong’s signature.
“Liverpool are following Luuk closely,” De Jong’s agent Luis Laros is reported to have said by. (Daily Mail)
“But so are 15 other clubs. Three big clubs who played in the Champions League want to do a firm deal with Twente. We’ll see what cards we hold in a few weeks.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also keeping a close eye on AZ Alkmaar’s Rasmus Elm, with The Daily Mail claiming that Kenny Dalglish is set for another trip to Holland to watch the Swede.
Elm pulled out of Sunday’s game against Feyenoord due to his wife having a baby, but the Scottish coach is now ready to travel to watch AZ’s next game against NEC Nijmegen.
Elm is rated at around the £7 million mark, and will compete for Sweden against England in Euro 2012 this summer.
